El Alamein are a post-punk/post-hardcore band formed in late 2011, taking influence from Pretty Girls Make Graves, Meet Me In St Louis, and Kidcrash. In August 2012 the band self-released an their EP “New Patterns”, recorded at Sun Distortion Studios, Brisbane by Chris Brownbill. In support of this the band embarked on an 10 date East Coast Australian tour with Melbourne math-screamo band Stockades.
Prior to this El Alamein journeyed on their first interstate trip with God Bows to Math, a noise band from New Zealand, playing three dates across Adelaide and Melbourne in April 2012. Following a successful EP Launch tour in August, the band joined Poison City’s Grim Fandango (Perth) for a 6-date tour covering Brisbane, Sydney, and Perth in October 2012.
El Al travelled to Hobart, Tasmania in April 2013, playing the inaugural All Tomorrow’s Shoeys alongside The Smith Street Band, Luca Brasi, Fear Like Us, and Lincoln Le Fevre and the Insiders. The latter of 2013 will see the release of “No Bad Days” on 7″ through Monolith.
